Subhendu Adhikari accuses state of favoring Islamic festivals in holiday calendar

Leader of Opposition, Shubhendu Adhikari, has launched a fresh critique against the West Bengal government, accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of practicing appeasement politics.

Adhikari took to social media to share the state government's holiday calendar, stating "in West Bengal there is no holiday for Makar Sankrati & Shri Ram Navami, but there is a provision for an extra holiday on the next day of Shab-e-Barat."

He noted that even in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shab-e-Barat is not a public holiday but classified as optional. Adhikari questioned the rationale behind providing an additional holiday on February 26, the day after Shab-e-Barat, when the festival falls on a Sunday.
